This 2021 vintage of Avignonesi’s “Nobile” expression hails from the historic DOCG zone of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG in Tuscany. Crafted from 100% Sangiovese (locally known as Prugnolo Gentile) in the hills of Montepulciano. The producers emphasize organic/biodynamic viticulture and gentle winemaking. The wine opens with aromas of red cherries and violets, subtle herb and tomato‑leaf notes, and develops a juicy, structured palate with ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a savory floral finish.
Often seen as a midpoint between Chianti Classico (usually fresher, more acidic) and Brunello di Montalcino (richer, more powerful).
It’s called “Vino Nobile” (“Noble Wine”) because it was historically favored by Tuscan nobility.
